Every month we update your training plan and show you how to be successful. One size does not fit all so every program we design is unique. Taking into account your goals and any obstacles to overcome. From beginner workouts to advanced and high performance.

How Can We Help you?

 

Having one of the largest gym spaces in Hastings has its advantages, we have lots of room for a wide range of weight training equipment and usually at least 2 of each so you won’t have to weigh (haha - I mean wait) to get on them when you need them.

We have a huge selection of free weights, Barbells, dumbbells, ridiculously heavy medicine balls, and kettlebells. We have an Olympic lifting platform with bumper plates to get into explosive and Olympic lifting along with heavy-duty jerk boxes for advanced lifting. We also provide a range of calisthenics equipment. Using your own body for resistance is a remarkably effective way to get strong fast.

Separate Boxing studio to work out your stress and a sauna too.

Everyone’s body structure is different, what works great for that guy won’t necessarily work so well for you. This is especially true if you have suffered injuries in the past. Memberships of 3 months+ include highly detailed and individualized personal exercise programs to teach you the best way to get you to develop. 

We have a long and successful history of results in strength training, we have done it and we know how to get you to do it.

Indoor Rock climbing

Rock climbing is not just about upper body strength.

Exclusive to Aspyre Fitness. - The only indoor climbing facility on Hawkes Bay.

Successful climbing relies on intricate footwork, lower body strength, and endurance, all-over flexibility, and core strength. Although not often thought about as a common form of cardio, climbing is a sure way of getting your heart pumping similar to the way that jogging or group fitness classes do. A one-hour climb session can burn well over 700 calories. And you WILL NOT GET BORED.

Each sport comes with its own challenges, some require brute force, some require speed and agility whilst others require balance and control. We take each person as an individual and tailor workouts for each person individually. Not everyone is capable of doing every exercise. We can help you find the right exercise at the right time. We have a great selection of group workouts available but there are some exercises that are best learned in a one-on-one setting.

 

Structure within your workout and your workout week is important. 

Some exercises should not be combined together and if you do this today, what is safe to do tomorrow while this part of your body recovers? When is your game or event? We can help you make it effective whilst enhancing recovery.

Did you know that a 20-minute sauna session has a similar cardiovascular response as a moderate-intensity 20-minute bike ride? This can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by up to 50%.

Rehabilitation

Most exercise prescription is given assuming that the body is well balanced and injury-free. But what if you are not?

Our staff is highly experienced in finding out how your body works for you or against you. We help you reduce pain and increase mobility and recovery.

If there is too much tension in a muscle or group of muscles or too little the joint can move out of position. For example, if the muscles of the chest are too tight and the upper/middle back are too loose then the shoulder moves forward. This is usually accompanied by the shoulders moving up towards the ears as well. Because the human brain wants to level the eyes to the horizon then the chin will likely protrude forward as an attempt to lift the head. The next thing is the upper spine at the base of the skull gets increased curvature which can lead to tension headaches and even dizzyness. The moral of the story is that everything is connected and whilst one area may be the concern at a time, then the system should be considered as a whole.  What’s the point of fixing the bit that hurts at the time but not fixing the system so that it just comes back again and again? This is the basis of modern sports rehabilitation. 

Sometimes it’s a few simple trigger exercises or stretches along with the rest of your workout routine, sometimes more in-depth one-on-one sessions are needed to re-program the system. Either way, our experienced, qualified Personal Trainers can help.
